VISION: What can you see?
When a local pharmacist in Atlanta, Ga. called John Pemberton invented a syrup that was mixed in a special way to produce "a deliciously-refreshing tasty drink" that was subsequently called "Coca-cola" by his bookkeeper and partner (Frank Robinson), he never knew that that drink will gross billions of dollars in sale in later years. As a matter of fact, his average sale for the first year was 9 drinks per day!
Interestingly, John Pemberton continued to see his product as a local drink that could only sell within his Pharmacy until he sold his rights to an Atlanta business tycoon called Asa Candler. Asa brought his business acumen to the table by shifting his vision of that drink from a local brand to a global brand. And the rest, they say, is now history... Every body now knows about Coca-cola.
My dear friend, "the difference between the poor and the rich is not in their bank account, but in how they think." For example, the poor fellow only sees problems where the rich fellow perceives solutions. The poor fellow thinks within a localized format whereas the rich fellow prefers a global gaze. The poor fellow questions why you had to give him an "ordinary 100 dollars for a gift while the rich fellow imagines what would happen if a million people gives him 100 dollars for his or her service.
It was this perspective that made the master himself, Jesus the Christ to say these precious words to his disciples: "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you." Dear friend, the comforter is here now!
Ask him to give you a global perspective to your gaze as you pray in the Spirit, let him show you how your little efforts can help millions and billions of others across the globe, dare to commend the efforts of those who have been of help to you, dare to discard the limiting vision of "a local champion" for your business, career and ministry to the inspiring perspective of a "global helper."
That was why when my wife and I visited the Coca-cola company sometime ago in Atlanta, Georgia, and I felt the statue of Coca-cola erected in honor of Dr. John Pemberton as he held the bottled version of his product, I seemed to hear the Holy Ghost ask me this question:
"Iyke, what can you see?" And my answer was straight and simple: "Dear Lord, I see a global vision, I see more avenues to declare the advancement strategies of life, I see more opportunities to help the discouraged, the despondent and the seemingly helpless..."
Dear friend, what will your answer to that question be today? Have you thought about it yet? Have you ever felt it in your 'feeler'? Or are you simply contented at your present area of influence? Or do you feel that there is something that I have missed out that I ought to have added? Let's hear from you...And may the God of heaven do a fresh work of enlargement to your financial coast today, in Jesus name...Amen!
